Inside Transportation With Tom Warne

Inside Transportation With Tom Warne is a special service of The Tom Warne Report. Each session is hosted by Tom Warne and features a guest who is a leader in the transportation industry in the United States. Selected topics for discussion on Inside Transportation With Tom Warne include issues of funding, project and program management, public private ventures, transportation planning, project delivery including design-build, and organizational change. Each guest on Inside Transportation With Tom Warne provides insights into important topics and current issues facing the transportation industry. It is a "real time" show that offers our listeners up to date information relevant to their roles as transportation professionals. At about 30 minutes in length, the interviews bring our listeners concise information geared towards the life of a busy professional.

John highlights how the state DOT is managing the projects generated from both the nickel and the 9.5 cent programs. Listeners will get a sense of what it takes to manage such a program and meet their customer’s expectations.

(February 21, 2006) Dave Ekern, the Director of the Idaho Transportation Department, joins Inside Transportation with Tom Warne to discuss the recently launched $1.6 billion Connecting Idaho Initiative. Representing Idaho's largest public works venture in the history of the state it promises to forever change Idaho's transportation system in the 21st Century. Dave also talks about the culmination of their Forum on Transportation Investment which charts a future for the state that includes $20 billion in project needs.

(February, 2006) Steve DeWitt is the Director of Construction for the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Chairman of AASHTO’s Task Force on Design-Build. In this show he reflects on past and future uses of design-build for highway projects including performance measures, cost and time savings, QC/QA practices used on design-build projects, organizing project management teams and state DOT structure changes, and lessons learned and their influence on the future of design-build.
